Massage Therapy & Tibetan Kunye External Therapies

Kunye is the rich and nuanced system of massage from the tradition of Tibetan Medicine. Kunye includes therapeutic techniques such as warming, cupping, herbal oils, joint mobilization, herbal poultice, hot and cold compresses, special points and more. Our program provides a complete training in the modern practice of massage therapy as well as traditional theory and practice on the clinical applications and indications for Kunye external therapies.

Currently this program is only available to those concurrently enrolled in the online Four-Year program. It takes place over the 8 semester program, with practical onsite intensives.

The program prepares students for professional practice, and meets revised guidance issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Board of Registration of Massage Therapy.

The Shang Shung Institute of America is licensed as a Private Occupational School by the Division of Professional Licensure of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Kunye is relevant for maintaining general health and especially  for balancing our wind element. The physiological wind element  governs the neurological system and relates with our mental/emotional health.
